iPhone 3G Now officially Outselling RIM’s Blackberry

Apple sold more iPhones (6.9 million) in the September quarter than Research in Motion sold BlackBerrys (6.1 million). Apple CEO Steve Jobs stated, “Apple just reported one of the best quarters in its history, with a spectacular performance by the iPhone we sold more phones than RIM,” he went on to say that “R.I.M. is a good company that makes good products and so it is surprising that after 15 months in the market we could outsell them in any quarter.”
Less than two years after saying it would enter the business, Apple now says it is the third-biggest maker of cellphones in the world by revenue, after Nokia and Samsung. And it sold more phones than Research In Motion, the maker of the iconic BlackBerry.
