Potential iPhone 3G buyers can now get the 8GB version for a mere €1—if they live in Austria, anyway. T-Mobile, which carries the iPhone in both Austria and Germany, dropped the purchase price of the 8GB iPhone 3G today from €99 to €1, so long as the customer signs up for the €45 monthly service tariff (almost US$59).
If you decide to buy the 8GB iPhone in Austria, you can also get your first month of service for free—an additional €45 savings. Finally, T-Mobile is offering another €45 for online orders.
This, of course, has led iPhone fans to speculate as to whether T-Mobile is eager to get rid of inventory because it has too much stock, or whether it’s preparing for the launch of a new product, possibly the long-rumored iPhone nano
