Adobe And Apple Working On Flash For The iPhone

Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen confirmed that his company is working with Apple to bring its popular Flash multimedia platform to the iPhone. The two companies are teaming up to bring the technology to the iPhone because of the technical issues involved, according to Bloomberg.

Adobe has been working for some time on bringing Flash to the iPhone, but so far Apple has rejected the company’s offerings. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that Flash runs too slow on the iPhone, and that Flash Lite — a stripped down version of Flash for mobile devices — doesn’t have enough features to be usable on the Web.

Mr. Narayen didn’t say how long Adobe and Apple have been collaborating, or when iPhone and iPod touch users can expect to see Flash on their devices. The fact that the two companies are working together, however, could mean that customers can expect to see Flash support on their handheld at some point
