Apple files for numerous patent applications every year. Though not every patent results in a product or feature, the applications often reveal interesting possibilities and can give us an idea of where Apple might be headed in the future. Several patent applications were recently published by the USPTO which reveal some possible improvements for future iPhones.
One patent, which is related to another patent Apple recently filed, involves enabling a user to transfer files or other data to other users while connected on a call. For instance, say you’re talking to a friend about a document, and you want to simply send them a copy in PDF format. Assuming the PDF is stored on your iPhone, you could initiate a file transfer while the call is in progress. Such an ability would eliminate the need to hang up, find the person’s contact info, and send the file via e-mail or some other means.
