iPhone 3GS Should be Easy to Hack

The new iPhone 3GS should not present any major problems to the iphone-dev.org team, according to an announcement today. The team announced that Apple had not included any major new measures to prevent pwning of it’s new 3GS devices, but cautioned that it would still take time to create a reliable, end-user friendly pwning tool. How to Put Your iPhone or iPod touch Into FDU Mode

After attempting a Jailbreak on a iPhone or iPod touch, you may experience problems which only restoring or putting the iPod into recovery mode will fix. A slightly less common problem is the device not booting at all, stuck on a blank screen. One way to resolve this may be to put the iPhone or iPod into FDU mode, which will allow iTunes to recognize it and then use recovery mode to restore. To enter FDU mode, simply hold down both the power and home buttons for seven seconds, then let go of the power button and hold only the home button until iTunes reports that it sees the device.

PwnageTool Released for Simple iPhone JailBreak

A third party tool has been released for hacking the iPhone and iPod touch. The makers claim the tool will not break with future firmware updates, a problem all previous iPhone hacking tools have suffered from. The tool is free and currently runs only on Macs – a Windows version is due out soon.
